At Innovation Endeavors, we strive to invest with authenticity and lead with humility. Therefore, it’s no wonder we are so attached to the unconference style. Where else can you lead a conversation one minute and ask questions and be a participant the next?

Our most recent unconference took place in the historic city of Caesarea, Israel — where 80 of the top Israeli minds in technology, science, and government met to break bread, share their research, and connect.

A meeting of the minds

Much like our annual Curiosity Camp, this unconference had no preset schedule, booths, or panels — and no stuffy board rooms. Instead, this was an opportunity for the most curious minds in science, technology, business, and policy to come as they are, share insights, and build on each other’s ideas. So less networking and more collaborative learning and curiosity.

Attendees led and participated in thought-provoking unconference sessions on topics that sparked their passion, technologies that excited them, and scientific discoveries they are curious about. Impromptu sessions included one of the inventors of the modern flash drive, an engineer who attempted to land a robot on the moon, the first female Colonel in the Israeli 8200 intelligence unit, and more.

Caesarea: the perfect location

What better place to host a group of incredible people and engage in meaningful conversation than the historic coastal town of Caesarea.

The event was held (as you might have guessed) right on the sand. While the scenery is breathtaking, what truly makes this experience special is, of course, the people.

We brought together a diverse range of expertise and experience and heard from scientists, strategists, investors, and innovators.

A look at our inspiring participants

  • Amir Shevat, head of the development platform at Twitter, shared fascinating perspectives about the future of free speech.
  • Yariv Bash, co-founder, and CEO of SpaceIL and pioneer of Israel’s first moon mission, expanded on the backstory and challenges faced on his journey to the moon.
  • Ronit Levavi, the first female Colonel in 8200, spoke candidly about the transition of leadership from military to civilian life.
  • Israel Grimberg, the co-founder of Team8, iterated the future of education in 2030 and beyond and the opportunities that lie ahead.
  • Daniel Chamovitz, president of Ben-Gurion University, pushed the idea that potential does not need to be lost due to unfortunate circumstances in one’s upbringing.

We continue to be grateful for the quality of sessions brought forth by our community. The conversations allowed for diverse opinions, unparalleled curiosity, inspiration, and surprising discoveries. We saw attendees collaborate on fresh ideas and watched people generously share tips and resources. Most importantly, all those who joined us kept an open mind, learned from others, and were open to expanding their perspectives.

As for us? We were thrilled to encourage such insightful conversations in Israel. The Israeli community is a hotbed of innovation, and truly, it was an honor to learn from so many brilliant minds and have the opportunity to share our collective knowledge. Not to mention, we had the chance to reconnect with old friends and build relationships with many new ones!

We’d like to give a big shoutout to Michael Matias for leading the charge and building such a special event centered around curiosity and invigorating conversation!
