Peter Wendell


Peter Wendell (Palo Alto, CA) is a Senior Advisor of the Firm. He is also the founder and a Managing Director of Sierra Ventures, a Menlo Park, California technology-oriented venture capital firm. He teaches “Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital” at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, with Eric Schmidt. Before founding Sierra Ventures, he spent ten years in sales and marketing at IBM. He is a Charter Trustee of Princeton University (term ending June, 2020) and before that served as one of the three officers of Princeton University’s Board of Trustees during his initial Charter term beginning in 2001. He recently completed a 10-year term as a member of the board of directors of the Princeton University Investment Company (PRINCO), the organization responsible for Princeton’s endowment. He holds an MBA from Harvard University and an AB from Princeton University. He serves on the Board of Directors of Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE: MRK). In recognition of his work at Stanford and Princeton, he was awarded the National Venture Capital Association's American Spirit Award.
